E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – The Fishes And I

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Fishes And I. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their sound.

The powerful and deep sound of the distorted guitars of this talented band immediately won me over.

Their new single ‘Killed More Than I’ve Cured’ kicks off in an epic way and sets the mood right away.

Then the voice starts, the way of singing and interpreting the lyrics reminded me of Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. This mix of influences makes the sound of this band unique and immediately recognizable, a sound that certainly stands out from the crowd.

Particular mention for the bass player which, during the verses, ventures into sinuous passages able to embroider and enrich the beautiful melody.

It feels like these guys have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such an enviable musical affinity.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Killed More Than I’ve Cured is The Fishes And I’s Single Out Now!

Epic and Depp!

The Fishes And I are a 4 piece band based in Southend, Essex, UK. Made up of 4 friends Tug (guitar/Vox) Steve (lead guitar) Luke (bass) and Sean (drums) they thrive as a D.I.Y band. Early 90’s guitar driven rock with the catchiest of melodies is in their DNA. Initially The Fishes And I was the performing name of guitarist and vocalist Tug. Around 2014 Tug had moved away from his hometown of Southend on Sea, Essex to Enfield, North London and was writing a lot of new songs.

Playing across London’s open mic circuit he soon realised the songs needed a band behind them. By mid 2016 he had moved again to Letchworth, Hertfordshire and got to work building a studio to record the songs. In 2017 he teamed up with former bandmates Sean (drums) and Luke (bass) to form as a 3 piece. In September that year saw their first live show with the release of ”Turning Tides” and by late 2018 they had become a formidable live act. Early 2019 saw the arrival of Steve (lead guitar) which further propelled their live shows. By late 2019 they went into recording their new songs which are set to be released in Autumn of 2021.
