E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – The Kid and I

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Kid and I. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked his elegant sound.

The Kid and I offers us an interesting musical approach and very original music.

For some reason as soon as I started listening to this artist’s songs in some moments I felt the compositional approach and some nuances of the Smashing Pumpkins.

A rock that winks at the past but manages to be modern at the same time. Nice energy and I felt the passion with which this artist sings his tunes.

The chord progression is never predictable and banal and his songs manage to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Morning Song is The Kid and I’s Single Out Now!

Cool Vibes!

The Kid and I return with explosive third single ‘Morning Song’ – bringing an energetic, hook laden anthem about small town life to your ears. Dealing with isolation and themes of the end of the world, the song reflects an anxiety at modern times, moving towards destruction and feeling helpless in its wake whilst trying to make your way through the world.

Written and recorded entirely alone, The Kid and I is a Hertfordshire based Alternative Rock music project created by singer songwriter Jacob Powell in 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Each song explores experiences and events that occurred in Jacobs life, ranging from his battle with depression to losing loved ones to his anxieties about the end of the world. With an array of influences ranging from Arcade Fire to Foo Fighters to Tyler The Creator, The Kid and I is an ever expanding idea of following musical inspiration wherever it may lead.
