Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to TROLN. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was bewitched by their music.
As soon as I pressed the play button I was immediately fascinated by the sinuous and intriguing voice of the singer.
For a moment I felt like Ulysses during his Odyssey when he heard for the first time the chant of the mermaids.
The rhythmic cadence and the twilight atmosphere of the new single “Says Abraham” is magical. As I was listening to this beautiful melody I closed my eyes and imagined myself in the middle of the desert on a full moon night entertained by odalisques belly dancing in front of me.
The sound of TROLN brings with it an ancestral mystery and this band manages to stand out from the crowd by offering original and unique music.
Frankly, I was very impressed with the quality of their sound and for this reason, I recommend everyone to go and listen to them.
Says Abraham is TROLN’s Single Out Now!
Magical and Hypnotic!
TROLN is the red headed step child of David Lynch and Grace Slick. With an eccentric organist in the immediate family, Laurie Anderson for godmother. Its psych rock/postpunk/neonoir gothpop-music has a love for darkness as well as romance with both industrial beats and the airiest melodic lightness. The lyrics entices the listener into weird and wonderous emotions, neonlit cities, dark forests and the raw hunger in the human heart for meaning and connection.
The Copenhagen-based band released its debut album ‘TROLN’ in 2019 to stellar reviews from fx Sound designer and member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and of the Emmy TV Academy, Peter Albrechtsen, who wrote in Politiken (biggest Danish daily) of a beautiful debut with ‘enormous potential’ and was reminded of both Th Cure, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil and PJ Harvey herself. Members of TROLN are: Helene Navne (vocals), Christian Rønn (organ/keys), Henrik Liebgott (guitar), Thomas Olsen (drums/beats)
Edgar Allan Poets is a noir rock band built on the literary universe of Edgar Allan Poe.
For over a decade the band has explored Poe's psychology, Gothic aesthetics,
Victorian darkness, and his influence on modern culture — through music, writing,
and this archive. Their album 555 and store collections translate Poe's darkest
visions into sound and design.
