Good Day Noir Family,
Dashed To Shivers isn’t here to play nice. Their album Undertow kicks off with Dry My Tears, a track that doesn’t ask permission, it grabs you straight into its turbulent core.

The energy is chaotic and raw, like being hit by a rogue wave. There’s an urgency in the delivery that paves the way for this intense musical journey.

Every Second leans into early 2000s punk influences but with a modern weight. The guitars are massive—like concrete slabs crashing down—and the drums don’t let up for a second. It’s industrial in its force, with the drummer hammering each beat like metal on metal. There’s no filler here, just unrelenting fire.

The title track Undertow shifts gears slightly, diving into darker waters. There’s a strange tension throughout—brooding, shadowed, with an almost dystopian edge. It’s the kind of track that makes you sit back and pay attention, wondering what’s hiding under the surface.

The inclusion of the instrumental piece CCS is a smart move. It breaks up the album’s pacing and shows that the band isn’t afraid to push into avant-garde territory. It’s eerie and abstract, like walking through the remnants of a dream.

Lazarus continues the exploration of mood and motion. There’s a cinematic sweep here, almost like the soundtrack to a sci-fi epic where the stakes are existential. It’s dynamic and emotionally loaded, proving that this band knows how to build tension and release it at the right moments.

Soylent Green plays with a more refined structure, adding a futuristic sheen to their usual punch. The textures are carefully layered, giving the track a unique sonic fingerprint. It’s smart, unpredictable, and adds depth to the album’s identity.

Then comes No Future, one of the clear highlights. The marching rhythm hits hard and immediately pulls you in. It’s infectious in the best way—designed for loudspeakers and movement. This track feels like a rallying cry, bursting with drive and attitude.

Closing track Why/Failed brings things down to a simmer before lifting them again. Pads float beneath a hypnotic groove, and the slow build gives way to a final burst of emotion. It’s a fitting conclusion—a reflective, slightly surreal end to an album that doesn’t pull punches.

Undertow is a fierce and thoughtful debut, built on muscle, guts, and smart choices. Dashed To Shivers have made something that sticks.

Relentless!

Dashed To Shivers is a four-piece band from Münsterland that blends 80s synths, indie rock, and screamo into a dynamic and distinctive sound. Known for their haunting choruses, melodic passages, and sudden bursts of heaviness, the band draws inspiration from a wide range of genres—blues rock, cinematic scores, post-hardcore, metal, and punk rock.

Formed in 2018 by guitarist Dominik and drummer Steve, the group found its direction after André joined on guitar. Early lineup challenges led them to incorporate synth elements, which ultimately shaped their unique sonic identity. In 2021, they released their debut album Fragments, and a year later signed with punk rock indie label Monasteria Records.
