Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Amelouk. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and was amazed by the atmosphere created by her music.
As soon as I hit the play button I was literally bewitched by the sound of this talented artist.
Her compositional method is innovative and unique and in some passages, she reminded me of Bjork. Amelouk’s music mesmerized me as the chant of the mermaids hypnotized Ulysses during his Odyssey.
This sound enters you and reaches hidden and unknown parts of your unconscious, it is as if these melodies had something ancestral and mysterious inside them…universal energy carried by the Finnish wind.
In the Ep No Appetite I felt nature, forests, wind, cold, solitude but I also felt comfort and harmony that relaxed me and sent me into a sort of meditative state.
I recommend to everyone this talented and unique artist who is courageously following her musical vision and is producing wonderful music.

Amelouk is a one-woman band for those who like dark and strange vibes. No Appetite is her first official release. It’s a double single, electronic with strong vocals and lyrical themes of heartache and detachment. It has been described as having a Portishead vibe. The songs are musically based on looping hypnotic samples and weird beats. It may not be for everyone.. but if your ears prick in the direction of the intense and the dramatic this is for you!
