Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Balthazar B, I discovered this artist on Spotify and I instantly liked the good vibes of his music.
What beautiful tunes Balthazar B offers us, a journey into rural America where centuries-old oaks and prairies provide the backdrop for a simple yet free country life.
As I was listening to the music of this artist I closed my eyes and imagined myself in Alabama with a blade of grass in my teeth walking through the cornfields.
Balthazar B is a storyteller and he has “Dylanian” approach to music.
Beautiful arrangements, simple but effective, I liked, in particular, the sound of the instruments, very real as it should be for this type of music.
The music is mixed in an impeccable way and every nuance finds the right place in these fantastic songs.
Music should be able to make you dream and Balthazar B’s music is able to make you travel without ever moving from your couch.
I really like the title of his new EP that reminded me of Aesop’s Fables.
The Dove And The Porcupine is Balthazar B’s EP Out Now!
Well made music by a mature artist!
Quote: “The Dove and the Porcupine is a blissed out twang-laden folk song and The Whistleblower is an upbeat celebratory chamber-pop number about the thrill of speaking out loud and clear, it is also a dedication to those who have spoken out when it would have been easier just to keep their mouths shut. Let us never keep our mouths shut!!
The overarching theme of the record is about positivity in the face of adversity, whilst being fully aware of the dark roads we sometimes have to traverse to find ourselves. This is reflected in the range of moods you will find across this 30 minutes – some contemplation, some celebration all tied together with intelligent songwriting and lush melody”.
