E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Gea

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Gea. I discovered this artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I instantly loved her voice.

When you listen to Gea’s music you are immediately transported to the boundless Finnish lands.

You feel the power of nature.

The wind howling, the rivers flowing, the snowy peaks and endless forests.

The electronic sounds accompany an angelic and magical voice capable of literally transporting you into another dimension.

The vibrations are fantastic, a breath of fresh air in typical northern style.

The melodic construction and arrangements, masterfully produced by Chris Birkett, reminded me of Bjork.
The chord progression is never trivial and we are dealing with a really talented artist with an incredible voice.

GEA releases “Sun Fights the Moon” in between of lunar and solar eclipses, starting a series of events that will change our direction towards the light

Sun Fights the Moon celebrates Nordic darkness, our seasonal battle between day and night. It was written during lunar and solar eclipses, and released in between the ones happening right now. The timing of it is also connected to the approaching winter solstice, when the sun begins to gradually win again. Song is also influenced by the Mexican Pyramid of Sun and the Pyramid of Moon which GEA visited at Teotihuacan, while performing in Mexico. She was deeply touched by the unique energy she experienced there.

The song is related to the part dedicated to energy of a crow in GEA’s upcoming concept album Call for a Snake. Song wants to remind us that nature is stronger than a human being, and if we keep on working against it, it will find ways to defend its ecosystem. It wants to connect us with the divine light within, and let that light direct our choices.

Award-winning artist GEA toured three continents in the fall of 2019. In 2017, she earned Hollywood International Golden Film’s Award for “Best Editing” for her first self-produced music video. Her music has also been featured on Netflix. Yet, her boldest move is her upcoming album, Call For A Snake. It’s a stirring and soothing album that invites the listener on a spiritual adventure. The previous singles have been viewed close to 300 000 times on Youtube. The album was produced by Grammy and Juno award-winning producer Chris Birkett who has collaborated with such icons as Sinead O’Connor, Alison Moyet, Talking Heads, Quincy Jones, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Steve Earle.

The Finnish artist has previously released the LP Butterflies (2017), and the EP Snow (2018). Her lyrics are often otherworldly and story-teller based; her vocals are angelic and airy; and her music is atmospheric and cinematic, drawing inspiration from EDM, folk, art-pop, electronica, progressive rock, and alt-rock. GEA’s work has been favorably described as “electro-acoustic fairy music.”

GEA creates a bridge to very powerful energies and healing frequencies that can change people’s lives. Her music is a catalyst for growth and transformation.
