Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Hipflask Virgins. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their powerful music.
The sound of this band convinced me immediately from the first seconds, as soon as the distorted guitars kicked in I breathed a sigh of relief because this is the music that I like.
An epic, raw, and free sound that awakens your wild and rock soul. In some moments the chord progression and the melodic intuitions reminded me of the Foo Fighters even if the sound of Hipflask Virgins is more powerful and tending to grunge.
The production is very good, perfect for such a wild and direct rock.
The style in general reminded me of the great rock of the 90s but I also felt some very interesting modern elements.
A band to keep under the radar because they seem to have clear ideas on how to propose their musical project to the world.
Dutch Courage is Hipflask Virgins’ Single Out Now!
Powerful and Wild!
Hipflask Virgins are “a gnarly two-piece band that leak riffs and fire out drum beats that’ll have you bobbin’ your head until your neck snaps. Catchy melodies, fiery vocals, and a sound that is their own. They are at their best playing live, having played rock clubs and festivals around the UK and Europe in previous bands. This new two-piece entity is very hard to pigeon hole, drawing their influences from many diverse sources. They are firmly a rock band with a dance groove.”
The band’s main influences include Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Death From Above 1979, Pixies, early Weezer, IDLES. Anything with a sick riff.
The Midlands-based band consists of Jay (vocals and guitar) and Will (drums and vocals) who have been honing an energetic sweat-laden live show full of head-banging, guttural screams and adrenaline-pumping drum-thumping the past few years.
