The rock legend Jeff Beck recently died at the age of 78 years from a lethal form of bacterial meningitis. He was in a hospital near his house in the South of England.

The Twitter page of the British musician has given the sad announcement.

Jeff Beck has played an important role in the history of music. He redefined guitar music in the 1960s and influenced movements such as heavy metal, jazz-rock, and punk. He won six Grammys for “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” and one for “Best Pop Instrumental Performance”.

In 1965 Jeff Beck joined the group “Yardbirds”, where he replaced Eric Clapton. The group was already leading the growing electric blues movement in Britain.

In 1968 he formed his own band, the “Jeff Beck Group”, with both Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, that weren’t yet famous at the time. The group debuted in 1968 with the album “Truth”.

In 1974 Jeff started his solo career. He released the album “Blow by Blow”. It reached the fourth position on the American chart “Billboard 200”, and obtained platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. According to many musicians, the album was a turning point for Jeff, who moved his first steps from jazz to rock and funk music.

In 2016 Jeff Beck met the famous actor Johnny Deep and they soon realized they were soul mates. In 2020 they started a collaboration and together released a cover of John Lennon, “Isolation”.

From May 2022 epp joined Beck onstage for a number of concerts in UK. They also recorded an album together, “18”. Speaking of Johnny Deep, Jeff Beck said: ‘I haven’t had another artistic partner like him in years. He has been a creative force for me and I hope people will take him seriously as a musician.
