E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Mike Railey

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Mike Railey. I discovered this artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was impressed by his music.

The music of this artist is very refined and considering that this is his first single, I was impressed by his compositional maturity.

As soon as I hit the play button his style reminded me of  Sting, The Police, and also the Incubus.
Mike Railey managed to find different sonic ingredients and he was able to make them coexist in a single musical product.

The production is good, it could be a little better but maybe the fact that it is a little rough makes the overall sound more sincere and direct.

The vocal timbre is beautiful, a clear voice rich in nuances, that is able to make you believe the words of the lyrics.

An artist of sure talent that I recommend everyone to go and listen to.

Lumberjack is Mike Railey’s Single Out Now!

Fresh and Talented!

Quote: ‘Lumberjack’ is my extended metaphor of logging to songwriting. “Sharpening my axe”= honing skills by practicing, “salvage the cold deck” = search through old lyrics to repurpose, etc. I researched logging terminology to get a better grip on the subject and immerse myself in the ways of the woodworker. Fun fact: ‘swedish fiddle’ is slang for a crosscut saw. I wrote the album about a mix of topics that are important to me, from civil rights, to materialism, as well as some more personal topics and relationships. The title These Octagonal Eyes describes my unique perspective on these ideas”.
