The style proposed by this duo is very interesting.

I was struck by the vocal timbre of the singer who in some moments reminded me of Dido. An intense and enigmatic way of singing that has the ability to speak directly to the heart and soul of the listener.

It’s also lovely how the female and male voices blend together.

A compositional style that looks to the past but manages to be modern at the same time. Surely Sparky’s Magic Piano have a great talent and a unique and refined artistic vision that makes them stand out from the crowd.

The attention to every slightest nuance is maniacal and the harmonic progression of all the songs on Never Twice the Same Color are well thought out and solid.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone!

Sparky’s Magic Piano are a London-based indie pop duo, comprised of Oli Bartlett and Marion Turnbull, whose earnest, sparkling indie pop tunes nod to acts like Mates of States, the Blow, and Bobby Baby. The project derives its name from an episode of a 1947 Capitol Records audio story starring Bozo the Clown’s sidekick, an imaginative young boy named Sparky.

Sparky’s Magic Piano’s debut full-length, Feel the Beat and Do It Anyway!, was released on the band’s homegrown label, MelodyFactory, in 2007. This release was followed by a single on Cloudberry Records, Like Falling in Lo*e, which came out the following year.
