Other Side Of The Street (Radio Edit) is Kate Ellis’ Single

Good Day Noir Family,
I had already listened to Other Side Of The Street in the past as it is part of the Spirals album released in 2022.

Other Side Of The Street (Radio Edit) is Kate Ellis’ Single

Previously I had talked about the album in general, today instead I want to focus only on this song.

I have to premise that Kate Ellis’ voice is so beautiful and warm that it makes every song wonderful. The purity and sincerity with which she manages to interpret her songs are inspiring.

The thing that immediately hooked me about this tune is the hopeful and nostalgic vibes. This is a prerogative of this artist’s way of composing music… mixing opposite emotions and making them coexist together.

The music makes you think of something lighthearted while the lyrics are deep and often hide a veil of sadness. This combination is particularly successful for this song about love.

In fact, love is just that… it gives you unforgettable moments both in a positive and negative way.

When we fall in love we let go of all our barriers and we no longer wear a mask. By doing so we become vulnerable as we entrust our happiness to another person. Love is a bet. While you play there is adrenaline and passion but as soon as the game is over you have to deal with what is left.

If you’re lucky you’ve found someone to share your life with, otherwise, you’re left with only memories.

In this case the beauty of this song lies in this… although only memories remain and therefore there is a lot of nostalgia, the music, however, honors the beautiful moments spent with that person. In the end, Kate Ellis seems to tell us: Even if it hurts it’s always worth trying because after all, only in this way will you be able to say that you have truly lived.

‘Other Side Of The Street (Radio Edit)’ is the new single from Louisiana-born singer- songwriter Kate Ellis, who uses melancholy Americana/Folk to conduct fearless soul searching. It’s a song about the bittersweet nature of love – how it’s always there and won’t leave you even when you might want it to. As author Louis de Bernières put it: “love is what is left over when being in love has burned away”.

The track is taken from Kate’s critically acclaimed sophomore album ‘Spirals’ (2022) which is set to be released on vinyl on 24th February 2023. The vinyl edition will also come with a previously unreleased special bonus track, recorded during the same studio sessions with producer John Reynolds (Sinead O’Connor, Indigo Girls, Damien Dempsey). Americana UK gave Spirals 9/10 calling it “An irrefutable, unquestionable joy” while Folk Radio UK said, “Beguilingly sung, melodic, warm, tender, open and insightful – a contender for the year’s best-of lists.” Spirals was just named “Album of the Year” on Blue Torch Radio’s Tripwire show.
