Past Lives is DENIALS’ Ep | Indie Music

The powerful and modern sound of this band manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.

As soon as I hit the play button in their compositional style I felt influences from Muse, Linkin Park, and Incubus.

Although this music winks at the past these guys have managed to create a modern and epic sound blend. The chord progression and the rhythmic progression are never predictable and banal.

All the songs on Past Lives are solid and follow a mature artistic vision. You can feel that DENIALS have a great compositional experience behind them. The attention to every detail is obsessive and makes this sound product of absolute quality.

I especially liked the articulate and powerful guitar riffs that support the rhythmic framework of the songs along with the bass and drums.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Past Lives is DENIALS’ Ep | Indie Music

Introducing one of the UK’s finest new post hardcore bands, DENIALS. Formed of duo Steve White and Lee Crimes, the band released their debut EP Past Lives.

A sum greater than their individual parts, DENIALS reignited their love of making music together following a six-year hiatus. Spending the pandemic reflecting on the hole a lack of creativity left within them, the duo was formed as an essential part to each other’s wellbeing. Lyrically and musically raw, lead singer Steve White began writing as the realisation of becoming a father dawned on him. Touching on abandonment, religious exploitation, the struggles with his own mental health and relationships with his own family, the EP is a heartfelt elegy to family life and a means to artistic contentment.

Written and recorded in their home studio the band passed the EP over to Bob Cooper of Chairworks Studios, Leeds (Jools, Ferocious Dog, Future Selves) for mixing duties. The result is Past Lives, an EP that shows DENIALS have managed to not only capture the raw energy that made them fall In love with post hardcore in the mid 2000s, but also add their own modern take to the genre too.

Hailing from North Wales and Manchester the pair toured the UK extensively in previous band Through Colour with the likes of The Misfits, Enter Shikari and The Ataris, to name a few.
