Good Day Noir Family,
our “Edgar Allan Poets’ Artists/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Margaret Hooligans and their Single Red Rider. I found this Duo on Spotify and I liked the vibes of their music.

As soon as I hit the play button I was catapulted to a Volkswagen Westfalia in 1969 towards Woodstock.

A strong feeling of freedom pervaded my soul while listening to this music.

A compositional style that takes its cue from the past and that makes you relive those rebellious and psychedelic times.

This is the real rock. Made of instinct, passion, and love.

The Margaret Hooligans managed to recreate those atmospheres because the singer’s voice is perfect and the sound and riffs of the drums are fantastic. Plus the guitars are exquisitely raw and acid.

Honestly, everything works great. The artistic vision of this band is clear and their approach is consistent.

Red Rider is a wonderful song that I recommend listening to barefoot on a meadow with arms outstretched as if they want to embrace the sun.

Let yourself be carried away by this music without asking yourself too many questions… be free like they are!

MEG CRATTY (ELECTRIC UKULELE, LEAD VOCALS), MR. STRONTIUM (DRUMS, TEAPOT, BACK UP VOCALS), FORMING ONE BAND THAT INCORPORATES GARAGE ROCK, PROTO-PUNK, FUNK, AND SOUL TO CREATE A SWIRL OF SLOPPY TRANSCENDENCE.

Why do Meg Cratty and Mr. Strontium make music together? Easy, they live in the same house and in 2020 and beyond that reason is completely sufficient. Though we try to live up to our influences – The Who, New Orleans, James Brown, Miles Davis, Soul Train, The White Stripes, Grateful Dead (’68-’72), and Fiona Apple, the sound me make is our own, which is the only reason why we’re willing to share it with people outside the house. Genius? Have Pete Townshend proclaim us to be the most exciting band of the 21st century? Maybe. However, since we take out music seriously, but ourselves not so much, having people enjoy our sounds without knowing a thing about its creators feels just about right.
