The music of this artist took me back in time.
I pictured myself driving a convertible to Woodstock. In some moments the melodic line and the drum rhythm made me think of Jim Morrison and the Doors.
Ben Dalby’s vocal timbre is intriguing. Ethereal and elegant but it also hides a rock spirit that makes it fascinating.
The Guitars with that tremolo effect and the musical arrangements are very coherent and manage to create this “vintage” halo around Season of the Knife.
The production is excellent, direct, and sincere, perfect for the genre.
Surely we are faced with an artist with a great compositional experience behind him. The chord progression is never predictable and banal and keeps you glued to the speakers from the first to the last second.
A very interesting artist that I recommend everyone to go and listen to.

Season of the Knife is Ben Dalby’s New Single | Edgar Allan Poets
Ben Dalby is releasing his new single, Season of the Knife. Picked by BBC Radio 2 for ‘Doctor Can’, Ben is certainly making waves within the indie scene. With influences of Talking Heads, Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd and Je Beck.
Ben Dalby has been played on Radio 6 (Tom Robinson) and numerous local radio stations. He has performed at pubs, clubs, squats, protests, the North Circular and shared a bill with the Magic Numbers before they were famous. His previous track ‘Tin Man’ achieved over 25,000 streams on Spotify.
Ben’s favourite interview was with a pirate radio station in Africa, in which he was reassured that the negative press he was seeing on Youtube was being generated by lackeys of the Mugabe regime one of his songs was attacking (Chinese Friends).
Season of the Knife speaks to the world we live in right now. A world where many of the things we’ve taken for granted are being cut away – health, stability, food and friends.
Produced by Leighton Allen (The Hoosiers), the track was recorded as band. It has a rolling feel, and takes you on an emotional journey. It is similar in energy to tracks like ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall,’ but has its own sound. The track was recorded near Southbourne Beach in the United Kingdom.
