Secrets is Tim Barr’s Single Out Now
Tim Barr is an artist based in Newburgh, New York. His early musical career began in NYC, playing bass for Lana Del Rey in clubs on the Lower East Side. Barr also studied under jazz legend Mike Longo, who was Dizzy Gillespie’s pianist and music director for over a decade.
This period of fruitful collaboration gave way to Barr’s formation of his band Silverbird, in 2013. They released the album Surface Life, which received critical acclaim from publications such as Nylon, USA Today, Line of Best Fit and Brooklyn Vegan. Album single “Hollow Heart” featured in two episodes of the television show Shameless. The band’s atmospheric rock sound introduced audiences to Barr’s memorable vocals and songwriting.
Barr then spent six months in a Zen monastery, where he wrote the follow-up Silverbird album, Pureland. The music video for lead single “Running” premiered on Noisey. The second single “Smile” was directed by Pretty Puke in Joshua Tree, CA.
In recent years, Barr has sold out shows at venues like Baby’s Alright, Mercury Lounge, and others in New York City. His solo work has produced a steady stream of singles since 2019. Among the most recent are “No More Fathers” and “Secrets.”
Barr recorded his recent single “Secrets” along with two more unreleased songs at Studio G in Brooklyn with producer Kris Harris. He also built an analog recording studio in Poughkeepsie, NY, entitled “Lower Oceans Recording” — set for launch in 2023. Tim Barr continues to craft a stirring rock sound with ample emotion and textured production, evidenced on “Secrets” and the releases upcoming.
