The major architect of this musical project is John Kanding. An eclectic artist who has been composing songs for many years. His compositional experience is evident in this magnificent album.

Obviously, in the recording of this album John has been helped by talented musicians.

The first thing you notice listening to these songs is the professionalism of the production and the impeccable interpretation by all the musicians.

In some moments the melodies of these tunes reminded me of a mellow version of Ghost that blends with Primus.

The harmonic nuances and incredible rhythmic variations are excellent and manage to entertain the listener for the duration of the album.

The rhythm designs of the bass and drums are accurate and the rhythm section solidly supports all the tracks.

Sorry I’m late! it’s a maniacally perfect album where every little nuance is treated with great attention.

A beautiful discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Never Can Tell revolves around composer & songwriter John Kanding (bass). In the late 80’s and early 90’s Never Can Tell was an actual group, playing his compositions. Several different musicians joined and left the group in that period. Without a former success or money, it was hard to maintain a steady lineup. So Never Can Tell disbanded as a group in 93.

Over 30 years later John started the project anew and recorded the album together with producer Nicklas Sonne (lead vocals & guitar). The album contains 10 songs from the past and includes some of the old musicians as guest artists.

Two more albums are planned for 2023 and 2024. The songs in Never Can Tell are in multiple genres, hence the name. A song can go anywhere it wants to. Whether it’ll be complex or straight up. The songs often have satire, effects, and quotes as visual aids for the lyrics and meaning of the story.

Growing up in Copenhagen, Denmark, John started playing bass at 15. Playing in the local youth club together with friends. Quickly he got fascinated with the composing process and frustrated with the everlasting discussion in the band form. So he invested in a mixer, a 4-track recorder, keyboard, and drum machine he would work on compositions.

With 15 songs in the bag, he looked for musicians to form a band and play it. After 7 years of continuing rehearsing, hiring & firing, John needed a break from the rehearshal room. But he wanted to hear the compositions in the proper form. This has happened now.
