Good Day Noir Family,

our “Edgar Allan Poets’ Artists/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Grand Prix and their new single Surf Panama. I found this Band on Spotify and I like the uniqueness of their musical vision.

The sound of this band is unique and innovative.

The music influences are a blend of past and modern mixed together. Their sounds reminded me in some moments of Phoenix, in others Jamiroquai and Pink Floyd…An interesting mix for sure!

Although this band has been formed relatively recently, it already demonstrates great sonic chemistry. Surely they have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve this sound quality.

A band with a unique and clear vision that was able to create a musical limbo of its own.

The chord progression is never predictable and banal and manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second. The Grand Prix prove to be great musicians and know music very well as the rhythmic variations and harmonic intuitions are always refined.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

The Grand Prix was formed in 2020 in Paris, France by Raphaël and Mathieu. The pair met at university and played guitar and bass in a local garage-punk outfit. After quitting their former band, they developed as a creative duo and composed what would become the band’s debut EP. Drummer Victor joined the band in the summer of 2020 to add the power of organic beats to the original demos. “The Grand Prix I” EP was released in 2021 and bassist Germain joined the band to help tour the album in early 2022.
