Good Day Noir Family,
I already reviewed Blake in the past but this artist is back with a new album ‘The Book On Love‘ and I want to share my opinion about it.

The creativity of this artist is enviable. Blake manages to produce a lot of songs and I have to say they are all solid.

The thing I like most is that this artist, like a Chef, is able to mix together very different tastes and sound ingredients. The final dish is always consistent and very tasty.

Surely we are faced with a musician with a tremendous compositional experience behind him.

His musical vision and his developed artistic taste guide him on his musical path.

The new album ‘The Book On Love‘ made me think of the Velvet Underground and other legendary bands of the past.

Blake’s creative freedom is contagious and somehow inspires other artists. Absolutely reconfirmed as he always offers high-quality music.

Solid and Mature!

The eleven original songs on the record explore relationships from different perspectives, from the unrequited love of opener, ‘Penelope Please’, to the fractious breakdown in communication of the title track. The album artwork mimics the iconic Penguin paperback covers of the forties and fifties.

Blake said, “It’s a record that most people will be able to relate to. Relationships are hard work! However, the songs on the album also consider our relationships with nature, our mortality and with ourselves.”

Apart from a couple of guest spots, including Los Angeles based bluegrass musician Tom Moose playing mandolin on ‘The Circle’, Blake plays all the instruments on the album.
