E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – The Hedge Hoppers

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Hedge Hoppers. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and was fascinated by their style a lot.

I liked the rough and direct sound of this band from the very first notes.

A compositional style that takes its cue from the past but that manages to be modern at the same time.

These guys are not here to joke and offer a solid and powerful rock that does not disdain refined harmonic nuances.

In some moments the chord progression reminded me of bands like Incubus or Audiosalves. The singer’s voice also made me think of Chris Cornell’s.

It feels like The Hedge Hoppers spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such an enviable musical understanding.

Their new single Powder Blue is a beautiful rock ballad, intense and deep that somehow manages to make you feel free and is able to awake your most rock spirit.

Absolutely recommended.

Real and Epic!

90’s Alternative Rock is a genre of music that holds dear in many hearts and The Hedge Hoppers have effortlessly captured a fresh energy of this nostalgic style that takes you back to your youth. Crunchy grunge guitars that made bands like Staind and 3 Doors Down household names are the first thing you meet in their latest single ‘Powder Blue’.

A surprising whirring of a Hammond style organ rings out through most of the song leaning into a gospel edge, while the vocal delves further into hard rock creating a unique sound. This Canadian 4-piece are already quick out of the gates to rock their local music scene in Ontario and partake in the return to strength of the music industry post-covid.

Tenacity and confidence can take a band far but despite the infancy of the project, (formed in 2020) the production quality of their music is ready for the radio. This band is one to watch in 2022.
