Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Them Velvet Tongues. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the energy of their music.
The sound of this band is very interesting. The thing I liked the most is the typically English compositional style, irreverent and epic.
It feels like this band spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such enviable sonic chemistry.
These guys know how to play and their song is able to awake your most rock spirit.
The production is very good and in particular the mix that leaves the right space for each sound element and the song breathes well.
It seems incredible that this is the first single of the band because Them Velvet Tongues already seem mature and ready to play on the big stages around the world.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Hit with the Lockdown Blues, five mates from Blackburn decided to get in a cellar and form a Rock & Roll band. Because I AM THE DRUG was first track they wrote together, it was a natural debut single. It sums up everything the band is about: dirty riffs, face melting guitar solos, soaring harmonies and a dose of hip-hop swagger thrown in for good measure.
The lyrics are a commentary on the way charismatic leaders can use politics and religion like a drug to control the masses, and serve as a warning to reject false prophets. The song was inspired by cults like the Manson family, Jonestown, and, more recently the rise of Trump in the US
