The sound proposed by this artist immediately intrigued me from the first notes.
A unique and original compositional style that frankly, I find difficult to label from how different it is from the rest.
Michelles stands out from the crowd with his unique artistic vision. The only artist I feel close to him is David Bowie.
The chord progression is maniacally thought out in all its nuances and the musical arrangements take care of in every little detail.
The vocal interpretation is impeccable and the general atmosphere reminded me of Tim Burton’s films, with that slightly psychedelic and crepuscular atmosphere.
Michelles decided to follow his instinct and not commercial rules to compose his songs and this allows him to be creatively innovative and free.
A fantastic discovery that I recommend everyone to go and listen to.

This Tune’s a Circle is Michelles’ Single
Michelles is the project of Chicago musician Michael Daly, which by current count has gone through three bass players, two guitar players, and one short lived background singer and tambourine player. The only consistent cohort has been drummer Ryan Farnham, who has provided drums on two full-length records, Michelles (2013), and Dark as a Daisy (2017).
Due to his perfectionist tendencies, Daly performs and produces all of the recordings himself. This, combined with an unorthodox and circular manner of working, can lead to long gestation periods for new material. The newest release, titled The Empty Promises of Rock and Roll, was released in 2022.
